Our Team

This is our Uganda Timothy Team 2009. This team is from Northwest Hills Community Church in Corvallis, Oregon. As a team, we will be travelling to Karamoja, Uganda on November 23rd. We will be working the Dr Val Shean, Dr Moses and Christine Otim, and the rest of their team involved in overseeing the support of the "Timothy Children."

Most of these children have lived very difficult lives. Many of them have gone to the city of Kampala to beg for food and lived on the streets. In 2006, these children were taken by the Ugandan government and moved to the region where Dr Val has been faithfully ministering for almost 20 years. Dr Val and her team have come alongside these children and have provided homes, food, and education for each of them through the support of several churches and many individuals from the US.
Twice a year, Dr Val's team provides a retreat for these children who come together and are provided an opportunity to be nurtured and discipled by Dr Val's amazing staff.

It is our privilege to come alongside this team of committed Ugandan Christians and provide support through spending time with these children and showing God's love te each of them. This includes one-on-one time, group activities, Bible studies, and training in important matters that will lead to the ongoing maturity of each one of these children.

There are two separate retreats in two communities. Our first retreat is with the younger children in Kangole, where Dr Val has a compound and the local church is located. The second retreat is with the older children, many in secondary schools and beyond, who will be meeting with us in the town of Soroti. Val's team has their central offices in Soroti. That is also where Dr Moses and Christine Otim make there home.

In addition to the Timothy Children retreats we will have the opportunity to travel out to the Peace Villages and experience, first hand, the amazing work that God is doing through Dr Val's team in Karamoja. We are trusting that God will use us to come alongside the staff in Soroti, to provide encouragement and develop relationships with each one of them.

On the way home we will stop in Kampala and have an opportunity to spend time with the children at Hope Children's Home and several other opportunities. We will also spend time with Paul and Karen Berg, from our church, who are currently working with water projects in Uganda and are beginning to do some work in developing water projects in the Peace Villages.

This is where God is taking us. We will return on December 12th and are asking for prayers for health, for safe travel, and a sense of team unity. We want to be a team that is completely working within the will of God, and that we remain open to following Him wherever he leads us.
Please also pray for us as we will be spending significant time together preparing for this ministry.
